A sixty-year man in a wheelchair was killed and his wife seriously injured in a pet dog attack on humans in a house in northern Melbourne on Wednesday evening, the Daily Mail reported.

It is reported that the incident occurred at about 06:30 on Wednesday evening at a house in (Ancona Drive), (Mill Park) Ancona Street, Mir Park. Police rushed to the scene after receiving the report, where the body of a man in his sixties was found. The man`s wife, in her sixties, suffered serious injuries to the upper body and was rushed to hospital for treatment. He is in stable condition.

According to police, the man was recently injured and had to rely on crutches and wheelchairs to walk around.

Several neighbors said they had heard very loud shouts at the time of the incident. A male neighbor said he tried to spray the dog with water, but failed to stop it, adding that the dog was large.

Another neighbor said the pet dog went crazy.

Others said they often heard the dog barking, but never had any trouble.

It is reported that after the incident, the police took hours to catch the Stafford County Terrier, which carried out the attack, and took it away from the house and handed it over to the staff of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Animal abuse (RSPCA).

The pet dog, owned by the son of the resident, has been in the house for some time. Senior sheriff Parker (Glenn Parker) said the victim`s daughter-in-law had agreed to euthanize the pet dog.

State police say they are still investigating the incident.
