The new guidelines for citizenship ceremony in australia will require local citizens to hold citizenship ceremony on australia`s national day. Under the new rules, the dress code will be decided by local authorities.

According to the Herald Sun, under a new move by Morrison government, local parliament will hold a citizen naturalization ceremony to prevent the politicization of Australian National Day.

It is reported that the Australian Immigration, citizen and Multicultural Affairs minister Gao Min (David Coleman) announced a new "guidelines for Australian naturalization ceremony" yesterday.

(Australian Citizenship Ceremonies Code), stipulates that parliament must hold citizen events on January 26 th.

The new rules will also require local parliament to emphasize dress standards for citizen naturalization ceremonies, banning shorts and sandals and slippers.

The new rules come after parliament, a number of places, including Victoria, voted to cancel the citizen naturalization ceremony out of respect for indigenous Australians.

"whether you are an Australian-born person or a person who chooses to settle here, Australian citizen status is at the heart of us and our common belief as a country," Gao said.

"Australian National Day is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate as a successful multicultural country, and we want as many people as possible to gain citizen status on January 26."

It is reported that Australian National Day is the most popular citizen oath day, in the past six years, about 90, 000 people have been sworn in as Australia`s citizen on January 26.

Between 2018 and 2019, more than 145000 people were granted citizen status in Australia, up 80 per cent from previous years. More than 15000 people received citizen status on Australian National Day, including 3378 in Victoria.
