On New year`s Eve, a man died waiting for treatment in the emergency room of Calgary Hospital.
Eyewitness Jenny said she took her son to see a doctor in the emergency room around 09:45 on Monday night, when she was waiting for about five hours. During the period, a 40-year-old man who came to the hospital alone died while sitting waiting for treatment. He should have waited hours, too, during which time the man looked a little confused and had spoken to himself.
Jenny described a woman sitting next door to the man who found him paralyzed and unconscious. The woman shouted for help.
The medical team arrived and performed CPR on the man, but he appeared to be dead. Eventually, the man was transferred from the waiting room to the emergency room.
The people in the waiting room were shocked by what had happened.
Jenny said many children were present, but after the incident, no one explained the incident or provided support to those present.
According to a spokesman for Calgary Hospital, the hospital could not provide further information on the incident at this stage. The matter has been referred to the coroner.
