China`s 13th National People`s Congress (NPC) on Friday proposed a draft law on Hong Kong`s National Security, which would include a ban on treason, subversion regime 、 secession, terrorism and outside interference. As soon as the news came out, it triggered strong reactions in Hong Kong and the international community.

Thousands of hong kong protest gathered on the streets on sunday to protest the national security laws proposed by beijing`s two sessions. Police fired tear gas and water gun, on the streets of hong kong nearly a year after last year`s "in transit" campaign

When demonstration and police confronted each other in Causeway Bay, Wang Yi, a Chinese diplomatic minister, insisted in Beijing that the proposed National Security Law must be implemented "without delay ".

Beijing has repeatedly warned last year that it will not tolerate dissent after months of massive violence protest activity.

Vincent, a 25-year-old protest journalist : " told AFP that people could be convicted simply for saying something or making statements against government. "

"I think Hong Kong people are very upset because we didn`t expect it to come so quickly and so hard. But... we don`t naively think Beijing will sit idly by and do nothing. The situation here will only get worse. "

At least 120 people were arrested in yesterday`s demonstration parade, police said, and operations to clear roads in the area continued into the evening.

At a time of heightened tensions, Hong Kong residents said they were considering leave Hong Kong.

Mr. Yam (Kevin Yam), an Australian lawer in Hong Kong, said some of his friends are now considering leave Hong Kong as China strengthens control of Hong Kong through the new National Security Act.

Democracy in the United States and Hong Kong denounced the law as a violation of Hong Kong`s freedoms.

The democrats councillor said the legislation marked the end of "one country, two systems ". The term "one country, two systems" refers to a return agreement in which Hong Kong has enjoyed limited autonomy since the British return to China in 1997.

Even before the proposed National Security Act, there were fears that central government were gradually eroding those freedoms.

Mr. Ren says many of his friends are considering emigrating to Australia.

"I have many friends who ask me what they need to do if they want to emigrate to Australia. Immigration is now a more serious issue for the middle class in Hong Kong. "

He said the situation was more unpredictable for about 100,000 Australians living in Hong Kong.

"I don`t think to say. If such a thing happened six or nine months ago, I would say more clearly that there might be mass immigration. "People have jobs and lives in Hong Kong, and they can`t come back leave Hong Kong right away ," he said.

This will depend on the economic of Hong Kong and Australia in the coming months. "Both look terrible ," he added.

But he said he would remain in Hong Kong despite uncertainty.

"Like many Hong Kong people, we are worried about what will happen. But Hong Kong is our home, and we just want to see what happens ,," Mr. Yam said.

"We see how tough and resourceful Hong Kong people are. "Hong Kong has experienced many difficult times in history, but it will always survive, so I will not (now) leave Hong Kong behind ," he added.
