Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison Morrison announced at noon on Friday that as states step up their weekly entry restrictions from September 27, more Australians trapped overseas will have a chance to return.

After a cabinet meeting on Friday, Morrison announced an agreement with state and territory leader to increase immigration quotas. Over the next few weeks, Australia's total weekly entry ceiling will increase from 4000 to 6000.

Mr morrison said about 24000 australians remain overseas, of whom about 4000 are vulnerable, saying "we hope to see the australians go home ".

Morrison announced that from September 27, the new state will accept an additional 500 overseas immigrants a week, a total of about 3000 people.

Queensland and Western Australia increased by 200 additional places per week from 27 September; Queensland increased by 300 per week from 4 October and Western Australia by 300 per week from 11 October.

Morrison promised that the burden of increasing the number of immigrants on these states would be supported by federal government, including government sending members of the national defence force to meet the needs of travellers for quarantine.

A number of other states have agreed to cooperate with the federal government if charter flights are needed to transport Australians back home.

Whether or not to increase, and how to increase the number of inbound travelers per week, is a hot topic this week.

The new state is currently the state that receives the most inbound passengers in Australia. Governor Berry Giklian (Gladys Berejiklian) said earlier this week that she would like to raise the ceiling on overseas arrivals to the new state, provided other states and territories share the burden.

In addition, today's cabinet meeting, there is also a new measure for domestic air travel, requiring all passengers to provide names, email addresses, mobile phone numbers and resident states.

According to the new health advice, students attending boarding schools across states are allowed to cross the border to return home during school holidays.

Connect state systems through national digital coverage to improve the efficiency of Coronavirus contact tracking. As a result, tracking capabilities in other areas can be used to enhance the tracking capabilities of Coronavirus contacts.
