Melbourne is the most crowded city in Australia, according to a new survey using Uber data.
Melbourne has the biggest difference between rush hour and off-peak traffic hours, while the most crowded area of rush hour is the Tullamarine highway.
A Uber passenger from downtown Melbourne to the airport will suffer a 29-minute delay during the rush hour and a 16-minute delay from the airport to the center of the city.
There will be more than six minutes of delay from the inner city to the city centre, and seven points from the suburbs to the city centre.
A report released by the Australian Infrastructure Alliance (IPA), a traffic advocacy group, analyzed information from Uber and compared road usage times between rush hours and no traffic jams.
The report also found that Melbourne and Sydney have become more congested during the past year's peak hours, Perth has improved, and Brisbane has remained the same.
Brendan Lyon, president of IPA, says goverment needs to take this information into account when planning for future infrastructure and cities.
