The new state`s health department will help federal biosafety to monitor all people returning to australia from wuhan, china, at sydney airport as the new coronavirus-induced pneumonia crisis intensifies.

A Brisbane man who recently returned to Australia after visiting relatives and friends in Wuhan is now being quarantined at home for a test of a new type of coronavirus, AP reported. He is the first suspected case of a new type of pneumonia in Australia and he returned to Australia through Sydney.

Continuing increase in confirmed cases in China

As of January 22,322 cases of new pneumonia had been diagnosed in China, including 270 in Hubei,10 in Beijing,17 in Guangdong,6 in Shanghai,5 in Zhejiang,2 in Tianjin,1 in Henan,5 in Chongqing,2 in Sichuan,1 in Shandong,1 in Yunnan and 1 in TW, according to latest CCTV data.

In addition to China, there are confirmed cases overseas. There were two cases in Thailand, one in Japan and one in South Korea. On Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) confirmed that a Washington state man was diagnosed with coronavirus, the first reported case in the U.S. since his first pneumonia-like illness in Wuhan last month. The man is in stable condition and his nationality has not been announced.

With the exception of one suspected disease in Australia, one in Thailand, seven in Singapore and four in the Philippines.

Although australia`s chief medical officer said tuesday morning that the risk of a new coronavirus attacking australia was relatively low and australians needn`t be too nervous, the suspected man was quarantined and it would take days to find out.

Australia Upgrade Travel Alert to China

Australia`s Foreign and Trade Department`s official website on Tuesday afternoon updated the travel alert, noting that "China`s authorities confirmed on January 20,2020 that a new type of coronavirus had erupted in Wuhan, Hubei province. We now recommend that all Australians remain highly vigilant in Wuhan. If you have been to Wuhan and have symptoms of respiratory diseases, please contact your doctor. For more information, see our health section. "

Currently there are three direct flights a week from Wuhan to Sydney, and from Thursday, Australian biosafety officers will be on board the flights for inspection. In addition, all other immigration offices in Australia will display information to alert people to urgent medical treatment if symptoms arise.

Sydney Airport Becomes First Line for Epidemic Prevention

The new state health office also announced late Tuesday that it will assist federal government monitoring of those returning to Australia from China at Sydney Airport.

The new state health department stressed in its statement that there are no suspected cases of new coronavirus in the state. Brad Hazzard, the head of the new state`s health department, noted that medical staff were working with federal government and other agencies to keep a close eye on the country`s epidemic.

"Sydney is a popular destination for many Chinese who come to Australia, especially during the Spring Festival," Hazzard said. So updated health advice is important. "

New state public hospitals and general practitioners in the community have received early warning advice, and the new state health department has listed the new coronavirus as a disease to be reported under law.

Jeremy McAnulty, head of health protection at the new state health centre, said those who have recently returned from Wuhan to Sydney had been advised that the potential for the new type of pneumonia could last up to two weeks.

Symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, cough or sore throat with symptoms of respiratory diseases.

"There`s no need for a warning, but people should keep an eye on the situation," McAntree said. If you return to Australia from an outbreak abroad and have symptoms, you should call your GP before you go. "

"The virus doesn`t seem to spread easily among humans, but anybody who has symptoms should have simple hygiene measures, including covering their mouth and nose with toilet paper or elbows when coughing and sneezing, and thoroughly washing their hands. "
