A man who was taken to hospital for dog bites is said to have beaten a police dog on the head while running away and is still at large.

Dode (Laurie John Junior Dodd), 44, escaped from Royal Perth Hospital (Royal Perth Hospital) on Saturday afternoon and is conducting aerial and ground searches for men in the central business district, ABC reported.

Correctional Services (The Department of Corrective Services) confirmed that Dode was guarded by staff from (Broadspectrum), a broad spectrum company, when he escaped.

The man, who was arrested on Thursday, is said to have led police to hunt him down on the outskirts of Perth. Finally, the police caught the man in Beswater, where Dode had a fierce conflict with the police and his dog.

One of the police officers was also injured and in urgent need of treatment.

Dode is said to have escaped detention at least twice, including in Perth Supreme Court in 2004.

Police urged anyone who knew Dode`s whereabouts to contact them immediately and warned people not to approach him.

The relevant departments have launched an investigation into the escape.
