The last video rental store in Canberra will close this weekend, the Daily Mail reported.

It is reported that the rental business of Network Video, the audio and video rental store of Chanwood (Charnwood), will continue until Friday, but the store has posted a notice that as of Saturday, guests will have to return all the leased goods, after which all the items at the store will be sold.

Madoff (Josh Mudford), owner of the store, said it was the first time he had considered closing despite the closure of Australian audio and video rental stores. In view of the current development situation, he has no confidence in continuing the new rental business.

Madford said he was able to stick to the store because regular guests came to rent the audio and video products every week. The loyal customers were rather dismayed by the news that the store was closing. "some of the children even cried, but I`m sorry we can`t stay open," he said.

On social media, many netizens are also saying goodbye to the Canberra`s last video store, expressing their feelings and wishes.

It is reported that the audio-visual rental store has been open since the mid-1980 s, during which different names and owners have been changed. Madford has been running the store for more than 10 years.

As a sign of the closure of the shop, the store will also distribute free sausages.
