A major supermarket in Australia has confirmed milk shortages due to drought and rising electricity prices, the Daily Mail reported.

It is reported that IGA supermarket in Sydney summer mountain (Summer Hill) store milk sales area posted a notice, said the drought disaster and other extreme weather, hydropower and energy, feed and other costs of rising factors, the milk supply decreased.

The announcement comes from supplier Lion Dairy Beverage Company (Lion Dairy and Drinks), one of the largest food and beverage companies in Oceania.

Its spokesman said drought was the biggest driver of milk shortages, but its supply should return to normal next week. The spokesman said: "Lions` business is driven by demand, as reflected in the company`s production of appropriate quantities of milk to meet customer needs. Demand for the company is growing, but there is no way to get extra milk to produce it. As a result, some of the company`s customers are facing a shortage of supplies this week. "

Dairy farmers warned that milk shortages would get worse if milk prices did not rise and the drought continued.

Mille (Rob Miller), a member of the NSW Farmers` Dairy Association, said milk shortages had been reported in remote parts of the state over the past month. Processors and retailers have not raised milk prices to subsidize the high cost of milk, so farmers have to cut production. Things will get worse next month.
