The Australian trade minister Birmingham (Simon Birmingham) yesterday reminded farmers in the country not to push for subsidy protection in view of the tense trade situation between Australia and China.

Yesterday's australian agriculture industry forum (Agribusiness Australia Forum) claimed that china's recent "trade sanctions" had exacerbated associated business risks and threat a economic recovery from the new crown pandemic in remote australia.

Asked if government morrison should reconsider subsidies to help the industry, birmingham responded that this would only raise questions between australian farmers and china. Any additional subsidies may expose farmers to countervailing duties.

The forum was supported by Ellison (Mark Allison), chairman of the Australian Agricultural Industry Association (Agribusiness Australia) and general manager of the Agricultural Animal Husbandry Company Elders Limited. At the meeting, he poured cold water on the idea of borrowing subsidies to boost agriculture.

"The Agricultural Industry Association does not see subsidies as a solution ," Ellison said. The response lies in investing in physical and digital infrastructure and in promoting innovation. "

He warned in april that australia should not unnecessarily annoy china, its main trading partner. Each other, Morrison government is promoting a global independent investigation of the origin of the new crown.

China announced an 80.5% anti-dumping and countervailing duty on Australian barley in government 5 month, launched an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation against some Australian wine imports in August, and suspended imports of beef from Australia's fifth meat supplier because chloramphenicol was detected in the manufacturer's lumbar spine.

This month, china's customs administration suspended imports of barley from the country's largest grain exporter ——CBH grain limited (CBH GRAIN PTY LTD) because of repeated detection of pests in australian barley.

Australia also launched at least three anti-dumping investigations against China this year, involving Chinese steel, aluminum and A4 paper products.

Ellison spoke about birmingham yesterday and said it was gratifying to hear his promise that australia would work to build relationship, on mutual respect.

Birmingham said in a speech that while Australia would not take a step back in defending its own security and interests, it welcomed China's economic rise and that "our policy is not economic contained ".

Birmingham, however, stressed government continued to support Australia's grain industry in negotiating with Chinese authorities over the barley dispute. Meanwhile, government is also preparing to file a strong lawsuit against China with the World Trade Organization (WTO), which is now in the pipeline.
