Credit cards work better than cash
Icelandic locals rarely use cash. Most locals use credit and debit cards. In some places, such as some gas stations, you can only pay by credit card. We recommend you bring an international chip card with a password. If your card needs a four-digit password on the card swipe, and you`ve been using a six-digit password all the time before, then you can ignore the password directly.
The euro does not apply in Iceland
Iceland is schengen, not the eu. So the euro doesn`t apply in Iceland, and a handful of downtown tourist souvenir shops or restaurants accept the euro`s cash. But most places can only pay kronor if they really can`t pay cash. As mentioned above, most places in iceland can swipe their cards without the need for cash-but if you don`t feel secure you can bring 8000-10000 kronor to your body just in case (like the card dropped), leave it as a souvenir.
Type of power plug:
The Iceland power plug is universal European type (two round) with a voltage of 230 V and 50 Hz. If you are from China, UK, USA or other countries using different plugs, voltages or Hertz, you need to use the switch plug.
Prepare a water bottle
Iceland`s water is probably the purest in the world. Locals usually drink tap water, and you shouldn`t make an exception. Instead of buying bottled water and carrying a water bottle all the way over again, it cannot only save money but also benefit the environment.
No need to tip
We don`t often tip waiters in Iceland. In some cafes or restaurants, there are sometimes tipping boxes, which are absolutely not necessary. Because icelanders earn handsomely compared to many countries in whatever jobs they do, even if they have a full-time job, they don`t have to rely on tips for all their expenses.
Night outing

Although it`s only a few hours`drive from the capital to the far north of Iceland, the scenery will keep you entertained. Save more time for the journey so you can explore the size of the road at any time.
