Japan`s health minister said thursday that 44 more people on board the "diamond princess" cruise ship tested positive for the new coronavirus.

In another 221 new tests,44 new cases were found on the luxury cruise ship moored in the port of yokohama, japan, said health minister kato.

After a quarantine officer was also positive for the virus, it increased the number of confirmed cases tested on the Diamond Princess to 218.

The last increase in confirmed cases was the 39 found yesterday, including four other Australians. This increased the number of diagnosed Australian passengers to 15, two of whom are still segregated, with another 208 remaining on board until February 19. Although it is not known whether there are Australians in 44 new cases.

Mr. Kato said that authorities now hopes to remove older people who responded negatively to the virus from their boats and propose to place them in a residence designated by government. "We want to start tomorrow or later," Kato told Journalist. "

Of the newly diagnosed cases of infection,43 were passengers and one crew member.

Originally with more than 3,700 passengers and crew, the cruise ship has become the largest new group of newly named coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outside China, which has now led to more than 1,300 deaths.

Clare Hedger, a 35-year-old Melbourne native, said in an Instagram post that she hopes to allow passengers to go out for a regular breath of fresh air. Ms. Hedger said:" It is difficult to grasp any concept of time, which affects our memory because there is no day or night. "

"I regret to hear more than 40 new cases, one of which is a quarantine officer. I wish them a speedy recovery," she said.
